WE ARE LOOKING FOR: NEUROLOGIST
A neurologist with neurophysiological experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
The department of neurology is located in Haugesund. At the moment, we have six neurologists (senior consultants) and eight trainees (junior consultants becoming neurologist). We have a position for seven neurologists. The department consists of a ward with 15 beds, included our stroke-unit with six beds; an outpatient clinic with general and specialized clinics; and the EEG laboratory. We have the possibility for neurography and EMG as well as EP, but we have no neurophysiologist at the moment.
The department participates in several clinical research projects.
At the hospital we have an outstanding radiology department with MRI, CT, nuclear medicine included DaTscan. Otherwise, we have good co-operation with the other departments in our hospital and with the neurosurgeon department at the University Hospital in Bergen. Neurophysiology is at the moment served from the University Hospital in Stavanger.
What we expect from you: We are looking for an all-round neurologist. Neurophysiological experience is an advantage but not necessary. There is the possibility to develop your own field of interest within neurology. Experience with thrombolysis is mandatory. Supervision and teaching of our trainees is important. We expect our senior officers to be able to work in a multi-professional team. We expect a positive and flexible attitude and good communication skills. A good sense of humor is appreciated. You need of course to learn the Norwegian language both written and oral at a high level.
What you can expect from us: We have a 40 hours working week. Normal working days are from 08.00 a.m. until 15.30 p.m. senior consultants are on call every 6th day/weekend. We have always a junior consultant on call. Everybody in Norway has 5 weeks holiday per year, you will have in addition 2 weeks off and the Friday after a weekend-duty is a day-off. You have the opportunity to visit congresses/courses 10 days per year with full salary and specialist have a sabbatical period with full salary from 4 months every 5th year.
The hospital can be helpful with housing, looking for job-possibilities for a partner and schools for children. We will organize Norwegian language courses.
